Student Code of Conduct
STUDENT CODE OF CONDUCT BCBOE Policy 6.300
One of the most important lessons that education should teach is discipline. Although it does not appear as a subject, it underlies the whole educational structure. We need you as parents to support our efforts to establish within the classroom an atmosphere that is conducive to learning. Please take time to discuss with your child the importance of rules. Students are expected to conduct themselves in an orderly manner at all times. NO student will be allowed to bully, harass, or make threats to another student. The BCBOE Policy 6.304 states that bullying/intimidation/harassment is an act that substantially interferes with a student’s educational benefits, opportunities, or performance, and the act has the effect of:
- physically harming a student or damaging a student’s property
- knowingly placing a student or students in reasonable fear of physical harm to the student or damage to the student’s property
- causing emotional distress to a student or students or
- creating a hostile educational environment. The behavior may be repeated, or has the potential to be repeated, over time.
These and any other unacceptable behaviors will be taken seriously and dealt with accordingly. When infractions occur and escalate beyond handling by the classroom teacher, a discipline referral will be filled out and given to the principal. The principal will address the problem and deal with the situation as necessary. The faculty, staff, and administration will encourage and recognize good behavior for all students.
